We are the largest single-site employer in the region, employing thousands of local people.
- 12,000 local people are employed across 200 on-site companies
- 2,467 employees work directly for Manchester Airport Group at Stansted
- 10,220 employees are from the East of England and 1,910 employees commute from London
- Our annual Meet the Buyers event has generated over £28 million in sales for local businesses since 2012
- Our contribution to the wider UK economy is £9.1billion/year with 24% coming from inbound tourism

At London Stansted Airport, we are focussed on providing a ‘sustainable future for all’ and playing our part in decarbonising aviation.
We are working towards our target of net-zero carbon operations by no later than 2038 and addressing environmental issues such as energy use, embodied carbon, waste, water use, nature, and pollution prevention.
- Powered entirely by renewable electricity since 2013
- A new 14.3MW solar farm is planned to further enhance green energy initiatives
- 10-bay EV charging station opened in May 2024
- 2.5-acre wildlife habitat was created in 2019
- Stansted Airport Community Fund (SACF) launched in Jan 2023 with £150,000 donated annually by the airport provides grants up to £5,000 for projects that enhance community life, the environment, or conservation within a 10-mile radius of the airport.
